Work at Home Jobs For Free - Blog to Your Heart's Content
If you are looking for work at home jobs for free, blogging is going to be a great opportunity for you. You can blog on your own or you can blog for other companies on the topics that they choose. It is entirely up to you, but, fortunately, the opportunities are plentiful, so you can capitalize on that.
But first, let's talk about blogging for yourself. How do you do that?
Well, the first piece of business that is in order is to create yourself a blog. You can do this on your own website or you can choose one of the blogging sites to get the job done. You just need to make sure that you write about something that will interest people.
In the meantime, you are able to sell ad space on that blog, display AdSense ads that will gain you a commission when someone clicks on it, and you can also use affiliate marketing to gain yourself some cash. There are so many things you can do with it as long as you market your blog.
The second thing you can do is find a company looking for bloggers. You can look on job boards, freelance job boards, or you can simply use Google to find companies looking for people who will blog for them.
No matter the route you take, you're going to have a great time writing about interesting subjects and you will watch the cash roll in. Just keep in mind that you get paid per job, so how much money you make depends on how much work you do.

8 Blogging Advice Tips For Your Free Blog Platform
One of the easiest things you can do to start publicizing your business on the Internet is to set up a blog. There are many free blog platforms on the Internet, and the choices keep increasing. Below is a list of free blogs you can choose from other than just Blogger.com and WordPress.com:
- Blog.com
- Blogster.com
- Bravenet.com
- Flatpress.com
- Klatcher.com
- Lifetype.com
- Livejournal.com
- Moveabletype.com
- Multiply.com
- Serendipity.com
- Textpattern.com
- Xanga.com
- Tumblr.com
You can have a fully functioning blog up and running in five minutes or less with any one of these free blog platforms.
However, it can be somewhat difficult to find inspiration to keep your blog updated with fresh content once you have it set up. There is nothing worse than checking out a blog only to find that it hasn't been updated for the last few weeks. A stale blog doesn't show that you're dedicated about your business.
The good news is that there's a lot you can do to keep ideas flowing for your blog. Blog posts don't have to be a certain length, and they can differ in style as well is in subject matter. So, here are some tips to help you come up with ideas to keep your blog updated regularly.
Blogging Advice Tip #1: Product Reviews
Look for products in your niche that you can test and write a review about. Give an honest, unbiased review looking at both the good and bad sides of the product, and your readers will be more likely to trust your recommendation.
Remember, blogging helps in building trust and building your brand. So, giving honest reviews will benefit you in the long run, even if you put some people off from buying the product.
Writing product and book reviews can also be a great way to monetize your blog. Add your affiliate link that takes the reader from your blog to the product sales page. If they buy the product or book from your link, you'll earn a commission for that sale.
Blogging Advice Tip #2: Book Reviews
Get in the habit of reading books related to your industry and writing reviews about them on your blog. Sign up to Amazon.com as an associate, and post an affiliate link to the book you are reviewing on your blog.
As you write your product reviews, make sure you include both the positive and negative aspects to build trust with your readers.
Blogging Advice Tip #3: Website Reviews
Review some of your competitor's websites and online business models. Yes, some of your traffic will most likely disappear to their websites, but this will also attract more traffic to your blog, and you'll build up your reputation in your field.
Also, researching your competitor's websites will give you ideas on what to talk about and some great ideas to improve your own website and business model at the same time.
Blogging Advice Tip #4: Lists
Lists are very popular on the blogosphere. Be sure to include list posts as part of your blog posts. A good list post will yield dividends for months or even years to come as people link to it or talk about it on forums and other social networking sites.
Blogging Advice Tip #5: Instructions
Instructional posts give detailed information about how to do something or other tasks related to your business. Instructional posts are especially useful ways to train your readers to get to know about your products and how they work. You will be addressing the readers as if they were already using your products, but of course many of them will not yet have become customers. This is a great way to suggest to your readers the value of becoming customers without directly selling to them.
You can extend detailed instructions over two or three posts. You can mix in other types of blog posts between your instructional posts if you wish, but be sure to link each instructional post to the next and the previous one in the sequence.
Blogging Advice Tip #6: Quick Tips
Quick tips are an especially valuable form of blog posting. The beauty of them is that they are short and sweet. So, you can post them in between your longer posts to provide some variety.
A quick tip type of post should not be any more than 150 words long, and some can be much shorter than that. Get into the habit of thinking up quick tips, or one-point snippets of information that you composed on your blog in just a couple of minutes. Quick tips are a great way to keep your blog alive when you don't have the time or inspiration to write a longer blog post.
Blogging Advice Tip #7: Interviews
Interview someone in your niche and then publish the interview on your blog. A good interview will bring several benefits to your blog. Not only will it provide valuable unique content, but it will also build your credibility as an expert in your field and help you build traffic to your blog.
Blogging Advice Tip #8: Guest Blogging
Finally, invite other people to post articles on your blog. This is a great way to keep your blog alive and to populate it with unique content on many different topics and in a variety of different styles. Offer to provide some publicity and a link back to the website of the guest blogger. Armed with these tips, you should never run out of ideas to blog about on your free blog platform.

How to Set Up Your Blog
You can set up your own blog and start making money. You can get the whole thing set up in about 3 to 5 minutes, no joke. Just do the following and you are on your way: go to blogger and then the system will ask you for a blog title and then a blog address or URL. Searching for a URL that is not taken is probably the only delay you will run into.
b. When you enter the URL you would like you then click on the availability hyperlink and the system will either say that URL is available or it's taken in which case you have to try to find another one which has not been selected yet. There will be a little security coded lettering you have to enter and then click on the continue key.
c. Now it's time to chose the template you desire for your blog. It gives you several designs to select from. Don't worry if you change your mind about a particular template because you can always go back and change it later even after you have posted some content. You can even change it right then if you like.
d. After you select your template you are up and running and ready to go with your first post. There are a lot of features and extras that can be added to your blog. For example Google adsense. These are ads place on your blog by Google which are consistent with the material you have written in your blog.
If you write about setting and achieving goals your ads from Google will be about goals and so on and so forth. Also do not click on your own ads or Google will kick you out of the program. This is how you make money when other people visit your blog and click on your ads. Again please do not click on your own ads because Google will know and you will be banned from participating.
You may want to let others know that use your computer. In order for you to see all the features that can be added go to the blogger logo in the upper left hand corner and click on it. Now click on Layout and then click on, "Add a page element and this will show every feature that can be added.
Some are summarized below.
Feature:
Newsreel=> this feature give you an option to add newsreel or current headlines from Google to your blog.
List ==> You can add you favorite list of books, movies, or anything you like.
Picture==> You can add a picture
Video Bar==> clips from youtube and google can be added.
Link list===> add a collection of your favorite sites, blogs or websites. So get started with your blog right now

Want Website Traffic? Start A Free Blog!
Blogging has become increasingly popular in the past couple of years. There are more and more blogs created everyday on a vast array of topics. Both personal and business.
If you own a website, then you know how difficult it is to get exposure to it. Creating a blog is one of the best resources there is today for receiving that exposure.
Like anything else...it takes hard work on creating interesting content on a new blog and getting traffic to it. Focus on your website or business when creating new posts and always try and add something new everyday. Try and connect with your creative side...we all possess some level of creativity! Give it a try...you just may surprise yourself at what you manage to conjure up.
Topics:
Concentrate on what people may be searching for today on the Internet. A lot of people are searching for content for their existing websites, marketing advice, and/or finding work at home jobs and home businesses.
While some people may be just searching for friendship and are interested in simply having a good time...getting to know others, conversing about current events, funny jokes, and the like. Some people are interested in infant clothing, toys, various baby items, and parenting tips or advice.
For example: If your website focuses on women's interests...then center your blog around women's interests, support groups, parenting issues, bargain shopping, household items, recipes, or whatever your website content may be. Try and make your blog posts as interesting as possible to try and keep people coming back for more.
Tips On Getting Comments:
1) Simply invite people to join in on the conversations and encourage them to comment on the various posts within your blog description.
2) If you own a website and message board, and you have advertising space available for other webmasters or business owners...announce a contest on your message board offering free advertising for the person that posts the most comments on your blog. ( I have a good friend that has done this very thing and it's working great for her.)
3) Give people a chance to self promote their websites or businesses through their comments.
4) Offer something free...for example, a free ebook or some kind of software.
5) Participate in message boards, announcing your blog, and request their opinion. Ask them to place a comment post and share their thoughts and opinions about your blog.
Promoting Your Blog:
1) Advertise your blog on various message forums.
2) Include your blog link in your signature within message forums and emails.
3) Submit your blog in blog directories.
4) Exchange links with other bloggers.
5) Write articles relating to blogging and submit them to article directories.
6) Advertise your blog in various newsletters and ezines.
7) Include your blog link on any websites you may have.
One Last Thought:
Have fun with your blog. If there is something (off the wall) that you want to share or you think is really amusing...share it in your blog. Write about anything you feel like writing. The possibilities are endless!

Keyword Research - Free Tools to Get Your Blog Started
Before you actually start writing at your new blog, it's important that you do your preliminary keyword research. Your keyword research is going to drive all of your current content - as well as drive all of your future traffic.
Now, you can pay thousands of dollars to a search engine optimization consultant, or you can do a bit of keyword research on your own. If you want to get started on your own, here are a few tools that can be extremely useful.
Google AdWords Keyword Suggestion Tool
If you want to drive a bit of immediate traffic to your blog, you might want to consider a pay per click campaign. And even if you decide against PPC, the Google AdWords Keyword Suggestion Tool can still provide valuable insight into possible keywords for your future blog posts.
After entering your main keyword phrase, the suggestion tool will spit out a list of, you guessed it, other suggested keywords. The tool will also provide "Global Monthly Search Volume" which shows how often a keyword phrase is searched for during the month. Obviously, if no one is searching for your chosen keyword, there is no point in optimizing your website or blog content for that phrase.
The best part about the Google AdWords Keyword Suggestion Tool is that it is totally free to use.
Word Tracker
WordTracker offers an easy to use, free option. The downside to WordTracker is that its results mainly reflect searches done in the United States. But as long as your target market lives in America, I definitely suggest that you give this tool a try.
As I said, it's easy to use: simply enter your main keyword and click the "Hit Me" submission button. WordTracker will return a list of related keywords and phrases that have been searched for over the past year. While the actual search numbers are a little questionable (WordTracker does not get their data from Google) the results are nonetheless a great springboard into additional keyword ideas.
You can access the WordTracker too online at: http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com/
WordStream
WordStream offers a no-frills, free, online keyword research tool. What I like about this tool is that you can have the complete list of keywords emailed to you, which is very handy if you're continuing your research in another program or creating an Excel spreadsheet for further analysis.
The results that WordStream display are very bare bones, simple bar graphs of the keyword phrase popularity. No raw numbers are given. In my opinion, the WordStream tool is best for generating keyword ideas. You can then have those keyword ideas emailed to you and finish your research elsewhere.
The Google Wonder Wheel
Google's Wonder Wheel feature will display other relevant keyword phrases in an easy-to-understand graphical format. After entering your keyword into the regular Google search bar, just click "Show Options" and the Wonder Wheel link will be on the left side of the page.
Your main keyword will appear in the center of the wonder wheel, and related keywords will appear in the "sun rays" surrounding the wheel. Clicking on any of the related keywords will create a new wonder wheel branching off from the original. You can click away to your heart's desire, creating wonder wheel after wonder wheel of relevant keywords.
Just like WordStream, the Google Wonder Wheel is best used for generating keyword ideas, since it does not display any other information, such as number of monthly searches. The downside is that there is no way to export the keyword list, so you'll need to have your pen and paper handy.

How to Use Automated Blogging Tools to Get Free Website Content and Free Website Traffic
Thousands of people all around the world, are earning an income online on a daily basis by writing/posting on web blogs.
INTRODUCTION: WHAT IS BLOGGING?
A Blog is an online resource/tool/platform where you can publish your own thoughts, articles, videos and ideas. You can also publish articles and videos from other people, where copyright permission permits.
2 Types of web blogs:
2.1Some Free Online Blogging Services
- Blogger, a hosted blogging service by Google
- WordPress, another free hosted blogging service
- Squidoo
- and much more...
2.2 Free WordPress Blogging Software
WordPress is not the only free blogging software but it is the most versatile and popular self hosted blogging platform. Self hosted means that you have to pay for you domain name and hosting and upload the software to your website in order to blog this way.
3 MOST IMPORTANT OPPORTUNITIES FROM SELF HOSTED BLOGGING:
1. The Inherent Website Investment Protection Plan
Thousands of users are using Blogger and other free blogging platforms and most are like fish in water. Nothing to pay to have your say and fast and easy to set up right from the start. You can literally start blogging within a few minutes. Why then would millions would rather choose the self hosted option and pay about $50 per year to maintain their own domain name and self hosted WordPress installation? An own domain name is usually not used with free blogging services but is needed to blog using a self hosted blog. Your own domain name can help you get ranked in the search engines if it contains the keyword or keywords you want to get ranked for. If any content on your free Blogger blog is frowned upon, Blogger may delete it. That is the same with any other free blogging service.
It is understandable that any domain owner (such as Blogger) have to protect their online interest - the same way you have to if you own a domain name and hosting. You cannot publish anything without taking responsibility for what is put on there. The difference with a self hosted blog gives you the opportunity to edit your blog (delete a post someone complained about) without losing everything overnight. This is a big deal if you have build up your blog over time and your investment is at a stage where you earn some money from your blog content pulling traffic from the search engines. Losing your blog overnight will result in cutting off that online stream of income overnight as well.
$50 seems like a small price to pay for a self hosted blog if it means helping you protect your investment, especially if you earn $1,000 a month from your blog. Other than this inherent protection plan you also get two more major opportunities if you have a self hosted blog.
2. Free Website Content
You can get free website content for your blog by publishing articles other people wrote if you have their permission. This is a great benefit to any blog - and since you have to do the work it is possible to achieve this on any type of blogging platform. You can save a lot of work if you can get people to upload their own work to your blog. This is called guest blogging.
Getting people to do guest blogging if you are using a free blogging service is a unthinkable. Although this may be possible you have all the tools included in a self hosted blog in order to benefit from this opportunity.
3. Free Website Traffic
You get free website traffic when people find your blog posts in the search engines when they have search for something your blog may provide the answer to. If someone search on something specific and you published an article on your blog that is about that topic of interest, you can say that a person who finds your article listed in the search engine results and comes to your website, is absolutely targeted (interested) and can easily buy from you if you have a related product or service advertised on your blog.
3.1 Free Website Traffic From Guest Blogging On Your Blog
The more people you get that contribute to your website the more traffic you get from the search engines. Since monetizing your website is so much easier with a self hosted blog you can therefor potentially earn a lot more from the increased search engine traffic.
3.2 Free Website Traffic From Guest Blogging On Other Blogs
If you write for other self hosted blogs, you are a guest blogger yourself. But in return a guest blogger get something in return for adding content to someone else's blog. They get the opportunity to get a visitor from reading their article/post who may click through to their website link at the bottom and the link in itself tells the search engine that your website have related content. The more such backlinks the greater the possibility that the search engines may rank you higher for that keyword or phrase. Contributing to other self hosted blogs this way creates an increase of free website traffic from the search engines.
AUTOMATED BLOGGING TOOLS:
There are tools that you can use with a self hosted WordPress blog that make it easier or guest bloggers to add their posts/articles to your blog. These automated blogging tools also enable you as the guest blogger to automate your blogging on other blogs. Guest blogging this way is much more sufficient and time saving.

Should You Backup Your Blog?
Today we are getting hammered with about half a foot of snow, so it is a good time to curl up in my office with some concentrated time to do my backups.
Earlier in the week, when it was still above freezing, I was working with some friends who have a small development shop here in town. I was helping them figure out their own backup strategy. They are smart folks, doing some cool things with computers, and have plenty of technical expertise when it comes to writing code and understanding how PCs work. What was surprising was how long our conversation took to understand their requirements, figure out what products they wanted to continue to use, and chart a course that would cover their data assets with enough redundancy but still be something that they would actually use on a regular basis.
When you think about it, backups are still far too hard. You need basic anti-virus/anti-spyware/personal firewall protection on each machine. You have to create bootable images, in case your drive goes south or gets corrupted with something that that collection of products doesn't catch. You want a shared network data repository and backups offside of this information, in case a meteor hits your office (or a tornado, more likely around these parts). You want a spare laptop in case someone's tanks or gets stolen. When you add up all these elements, backups could be a full-time job.
I have a rather complex backup routine that I use for my own data protection, and there isn't anyone else in my office (most of the time) and most of my data resides on one computer. So I fully anticipated that it would be a lot more complex for my friends who have multiple computers. The hard part is to make it easy enough so that they could be motivated to follow through on a regular basis.
I will admit that my own backups are a chore that I don't enjoy doing and only motivate myself to do it because I recall the consequences of an office fire many years (in my building, luckily both I and my office were untouched) or a stolen laptop from the trunk of my car in a Seattle shopping center. And as I was describing my own processes to my friends, I realized that there is still one place that I don't have adequate backups. Actually, two places, and both because I use Web resources for creating some of my corporate mission-critical content: my Wordpress blog and my Gmail address book. In the very unlikely situation that either of these companies go out of business or remove my data accidentally, I am totally toast.
Actually, part of my Gmail contacts did disappear for a little while last summer while the Google Guys were working on some update or something. For a day or so, I lost the use of the contact groups to organize my peeps. I could still see the individual contacts, but none of the group membership structure.
I realized then (and now) that there is no easy way to replicate this group structure, even if I do an export to a CSV of my entire contact list: all I get from doing that is just the contacts without any group memberships. After the disappearing group lists, I spent a few hours taking screenshots of each group list, realizing that I probably would never do that again and it was far too painful to be useful, but I did feel that I did something to prevent it from happening again. I was right: those screenshots were a one-time deal. I still don't have a solution. Google, please get this fixed soon.
But the Strominator.com Wordpress blog is more troubling, because there are lots of links and lots of content that I have created over the years and if that goes away, I don't have much recourse and don't even want to think about re-creating that stuff. So what to do?
One thought I had was to cross-post all my blog entries on another free blogging service, such as on Blogger or LiveJournal. It would be nice if one of them would be able to import an XML file or RSS feed and replicate the entire Strominator blog automatically, but alas that isn't possible. None of the services will import the comments on my Wordpress site - which could be a benefit for those of you that want to start with a clean slate. None of them will import the static pages of content that I have created, which are essentially links to my published archive. I guess I could cut and paste the HTML and save it as a local file on my desktop, but that seems so 1990s.
Multiply.com does have the ability to import blog entries from a bunch of different blogging services (including Blogger and LiveJournal), but not Wordpress. Too bad.
Sigh. So I will have to go back and copy and paste my posts, which is a tedious process considering that I have several hundred posts on the darn thing. I did replicate last year's just to see what it took, and I guess from now going forward I will cross-post for backup's sake. But which service should I use?
One thought I had was to cross-post my old content on sites that have some social-networking patina so I can get some leverage and readership out of the effort. Scribd.com is one such site, but they are more geared towards uploading documents rather than straight HTML - I not only lose the comments but the embedded links with this service. Google's Blogger is probably not going away, but do I want to trust Yet Another Googlicious Service for my content? Not sure about that. And LiveJournal has an extra step to get posts to be dated properly.
So nothing is perfect. I welcome your thoughts as always. At least my words are preserved on a few places around the Internet.

How To Find A Free Blog Template
You've created your blog.
Now you need a blog design that will make it look good for your viewers.
The easiest way to do this is by using a free blog template.
Amazingly, there are lots of people out there who are very happy to create blog templates that you can use for free.
I guess that's why there are so many starving artists. But, hey, why not take advantage and use a free blog template.
Incidentally, if you're using Wordpress, my favorite blog platform, you need to remember that they call a blog template a blog theme. So you may need to expand your search to include free blog theme.
Actually, with Wordpress it's really easy to find a free blog template.
Go into the presentation section of your blog's control panel.
Scroll down the page.
You'll see a section that says "Get more themes".
Click on the link that is in that section and you'll get a screen with more free blog templates than you'll get to use in this lifetime.
In fact, if this is the first time you've used this screen to find your free blog template, it can be a bit daunting.
They almost all look good.
But which one to use?
Start by deciding how many columns you want your free blog template to have. Personally, I tend to use two columns but it's completely your choice.
Then narrow your choice down by color scheme. A bright red blog template isn't likely to work with a blog that encourages people to relax. But there are instances where it would be ok.
After that, assuming you've chosen a two column blog template, decide whether you want the sidebar on the left or the right. The sidebar is the narrower column and usually contains links to your blog's articles. A lot of people also use it to monetize their blog with things like Google Adsense.
Click the "show" button and the screen will refresh to reflect your choices.
Then it's a matter of looking at the thumbnail images that appear. If any of these free blog templates looks good, click the "test run" button to double check it full screen.
If it still looks good, download it to your hard drive and then upload it to your web hosting, following the simple instructions on your Wordpress control panel.
Then press "refresh" on your control panel screen and select the new theme.
Congratulations, you've just installed a new free blog template.

Adding other ads to a Google blog is a way to make still more income from blogging. This is also an easy task when using Blogspot. The system allows bloggers to add a custom HTML widget anywhere they like, and this can be used for JavaScript as well. Either can be pasted directly into the widget for a quick and easy monetization.
Posting to a Google Blog
One of the best things about a blog is that it's easy to write new posts for the site. The blog posts can be placed directly into a WYSIWYG box, eliminating the need for any coding. The blogger can add photos and videos directly into the posts, again without requiring any coding. This allows posts to be written quickly and to have them publish exactly the way they were envisioned rather than having to leave off parts of a blog because the blogger doesn't have the coding knowledge needed to create them.

MySpace Blog Account
A "blog" is a short name for web logging that lets one correspond and entertain other people over the internet on various global locations. The first thing that one needs to do is to register for a MySpace blog account which is free of charge. For the conditions, one can get them at the MySpace pages. When signing up for an account some details are taken down and one gets to customize their profile.
One then gets to create their own MySpace blog account with the various facilities provided. MySpace also gives one the capability to have some groups where you get to discuss on various topics and at the same time have others commenting on your blogs. Depending on what you are discussing at the blogs, you will have many people join and you might create a large group of friends.
An advantage with having blogs is that you can get to create some small article like the novella which you can actually blog on with your MySpace blog friends. This helps one put into practice ones artistic talents. Its interesting to talk about your day and have others share what you are going through. This makes it fun as others will join in and talk about their general chores and you will keep them coming back.
Lamenting about your boss or work is never a good idea as people will always strike back and people can shun your blogs as they prove to be boring. Another thing is that as you lament about your superiors or co-workers, they might also be part of the people reading and visiting your blogs leading to severe consequences. It is therefore always advisable to be keen on what you say and it should be interesting.
Attract Free Traffic With a Blog - How to Start Blogging Especially If You Don't Have Your Own
Have you figured out blogs yet? Don't know exactly what a blog is and how it can help your business? Would you like to figure out where your target market is hanging out on the internet, and attract free traffic by joining in the conversation appropriately through blogging, especially if you have no blog of your own?
To quote Business Week: "Social Media Will Change Your Business. Look past the yakkers, hobbyists, and political mobs. Your customers and rivals are figuring blogs out. Our advice: Catch up... or catch you later." Feb 20, 2008.
If you're wanting to develop your own internet marketing presence for your business, you may have heard that social marketing is a good place to start, even an essential component of your marketing arsenal. However there are lots of misconceptions surrounding blogs and social marketing, suggesting the only way to attract your target audience is to have your own blog.
Discover in this article however, how to use blogging to your advantage without breaking the bank and participate in the conversation to attract your target audience for FREE!
Don't know what a blog is?
A blog is simply a journal filled with articles on a specific topic like network marketing, cars, health products and almost anything else you can imagine to which anyone can contribute. Whilst some of the blog articles are written by companies, many of them are written by individuals who have a passion for their topic and can provide lots of valuable content.
Whether you decide to comment on other people's blogs or create your own, consider always that a blog is essentially an online discussion which offers its participants the ability to comment on what they've read thus creating a dynamic online conversation.
Consider that we humans are social creatures and love to contribute and be part of a conversation - especially someone else's! It also gives us a sense of value when we contribute something which benefits someone else.
Topics which create and encourage conversation are more likely to engage readers and make them re-visit a blog in future. Bloggers love for you to comment on what they've written as we said earlier, so it's a win-win situation. The more people who participate, the more interesting the blog, the more you get in front of a new audience!
A good idea is to email people a link to a blog because blogs are seen as unbiased information. Bloggers love it when you borrow their content and will often reward you by linking to your website or even featuring you in a future blog post or article.
But what if you don't know how to set up your own blog or even know what to say in a blog post?
Keep in mind that most blogs are set up so that a moderator needs to approve your comments or post BEFORE it's viewable to other readers. Be careful about how you bring up your business name or website. If you appear to be blatantly marketing yourself, your comment won't be added and you may be blocked from posting their in future.
Bear in mind that blogging can be hard work - around 60 percent of blogs haven't been updated in the last 2 months! One of the biggest reasons is because people realise they are essentially talking to themselves. Writing the blog is the easy part; the hard part is getting people to read them. Blogs have to be marketed just as you would a website or newsletter.
Why Not Tap Into The Audiences of Other Blogs
This is where it's a good idea to find blogs which relate to your target audience and business where you can comment without actually having your own blog. In order to get in front of your target audience, you have to think like them so ask yourself:
- Where does my target market hang out on the internet?
- What are their major challenges?
- What are their most burning questions?
- How can I help?
- What stories in the media are affecting their industry right now?
- What do they care about?
Once you've answered these questions you'll probably start thinking of many more: keep writing! Once you're satisfied with your list, start searching the blog directories.
For starters, go to Google and type in "blog: insert your topic here" and see what comes up.
You may want to visit the Open Directory Project, the largest human-edited directory online which has a comprehensive list of blog directories. In addition, some of the other major blog directories are Technorati, BlogCatalog and Blogarama.
Realise This:
The average time spent on social networking sites grew from 3 to 5.5 hours per month in the last year alone. Do you think your target audience may be among them? Learn their language. Find out what their problems are and become part of the conversation. As we highlighted earlier, catch up, or catch you later.
And just in case this all seems a little overwhelming and you're unsure how to add 'your say', consider this:
You are, at this moment, more valuable than you can ever imagine. Believe it or not, the odds are that you already possess specific knowledge and ideas people want.
Write about your niche in a helpful, conversational manner. Give away tips and strategies others can implement. Don't worry if you think you don't know much about your niche. The more you learn, the more you can help. Provided you are committed to your own development and success, you will always know more than someone else!
Best of all, sharing your knowledge will demonstrate your expertise and establish your credibility. What more could you want?

But first, a quick note on definitions. In WordPress, "templates" are known as "themes." Keep this in mind, and just think of the two words as interchangeable. The list below refers to the best free WordPress themes that I've found and personally worked with, both for myself, and my clients.
Neoclassical Theme
Chris Pearson, over at Pearsonified, is an expert coder who really understands how great a platform WordPress is, and has created a fantastic free theme. Neoclassical was the main theme for my own food blog, BlogEatDrink.com, for years, and has many great features, like
1. Large, rotating header images
2. Beautiful, clean layout & design
3. SEO optimized
4. Easy to customize and configure
Search Google for "Neoclassical WordPress theme"
Colourise
If you're looking a darker and more mysterious blog template, this theme has a deep, dark black background, and great, clear type laid over it. The main header image is atmospheric, and very easy to change if you want to use your own. You can also easily lay out a host of "widgets" in the right side column. Additional features include:
1. RSS feed
2. SEO optimized
3. Clear layout and navigation
4. Good archive pages
Search Google for "Colourise WordPress theme."
Copyblogger Theme
Another Chris Pearson original, "Copyblogger" has a slightly retro newspaper-like feel to it, emphasizing type and clarity. It's also super-simple to get up and running, and looks great in every browser.
Here are a few more features that you'll want to know about
1. SEO optimized
2. Easily add and style images

4. Great pull quotes for emphasizing text points in your posts

Ashford Theme
This great theme by Tim Bednar has a completely different feel. Not only can you blog with it, you can create really attractive Web sites of any kind with it. While you can create a really sharp blog with this theme, it goes beyond mere blogging to offer a complete Web site publishing platform. Tim's done a great job with this theme, and continues to update it. I've worked with it extensively, and gotten deep into the code, so I can really recommend this theme from personal experience.
Some great features include:

2. Drop-down menu navigation

And all of these themes support ads, so you can sign up for Google AdSense, and start making money from your blog.

Tips on Increasing Blog Traffic - Take Advantage of Free Blog Traffic
Your blog is a reflection of you. It offers the reader a lot about you, who you are, what you enjoy and what you think would be a valuable asset to the internet as a whole. Did you know that your blog, no matter how large or small, can also be a money maker if you use it correctly?
The trick to that is getting users to your site who will read what you have to say and return to your site repeatedly. What makes a user want to view your site again after reading what you had to say the first time?
How do you get users who are loyal to your blog, who return to read it repeatedly and may even sign up for your list? What makes your blog unique and gets the return visitors that keep it busy with all of the choices that are out there for the users? How do you increase your blog traffic while getting return visitors?
Increasing the traffic to your blog, getting regular readers who return again and again to view your articles is a matter of a few simple points. You can use some tried and true methods of getting people to your blog to read from you to begin with and then, once you have them there, the content and your fresh new ideas are what will keep them coming back.
Free Blog Traffic: Getting First Time Traffic
In all honesty, you may be the one saying it best and you very well could have the best site going for your topic, but if no one sees that, then what good is it? The search engines and the readers have to have a way to find you. Getting initial traffic to a Blog is important and then giving them a reason to come back is going to be secondary.
Some immediate traffic building strategies that we've used effectively are the most easily accomplished and don't cost you a penny:
Twitter -The well known social networking site can actually help you to increase your blog traffic by offering regular updates about what you're up to on your site and letting people see when you have fresh content.
Yahoo Answers - Establish yourself as an expert in a particular category by offering answers to the questions which are asked of people there. Use your blog address as a source field and the traffic begins to trickle, then to flow in.
Facebook - Social networking sites are always h helpful to your traffic but Facebook tends to be far more helpful than most. Establish a following there by making a Facebook page for your blog that updates it, keeps people peeking in and builds a fan list. Link up to your personal pages so that your friends and family can see what you've been up to and may join the business or blog page and build your readership.
Inbound Links - Once you have some good content actively seek out other blogs that have some of the same content and ideas as your own. You may want to ask the blog owner or writer if they'd consider letting you pay a nominal amount for a link to your site or if they would consider trading a link with you.
Directories - Installing your blog url into some of the better known directories or applying for inclusion into some free directories is a great way to drive traffic. They will be used by multiple readers and searchers who are looking for content of your type.
Increasing Blog Traffic: Getting Return Traffic
Everyone makes mistakes. Your topics may not be spot on, your content may not be exactly correct or your key words may not be the ideal ones for your topic. Those things you can change and update and make it right. If your content is fresh and new, and your ideas are your own then people do want to read it.
A few mistakes that people make while building their blogs and websites that will prevent you from getting the readers that you want or keep them from wanting to come back to view your fresh content are:
Making your site too close to another one - If you see a site that is doing well, you're inclined to emulate it, but the truth is that it's been there longer, has more traffic and probably is doing it better because its original. Get your own content ideas. Don't repeat what someone else said in another way. All you're doing is adding content to the site that is already out there and able to be viewed. Say it your own way. Make it easy and simple to understand and offer perhaps that same type of content in your own words.
Don't Make Endless Posts - To get readers coming back and actually reading your text is the trick. Consider your own feelings when it comes to reading. Even the most avid reader won't' want to read a page of text that is miles long. Inject photos between the paragraphs; break up the text with photos or headers to prevent them from seeming like endless tomes that you simply can't get through. Keep your posts under 600 words if you're offering instructions. Make them bulleted lists or line items, as opposed to chunks of text.
Not Offering What the Title Advertises - The surest way to lose readers and keep them from coming back is to have content that isn't related to your title or key words. They are interested in that topic or they would not have searched it. Make sure that you deliver on what the title promises and give them the content they came looking for. If you do, most people will read through to the end and bookmark your site as a good source of information.
Letting your Content Go Stale - Keep your content fresh. Particularly if your blog has dates on the articles, make sure that you add something new weekly so that you hold the interest of your readers. They will get used to visiting to see what's new on the site if you update regularly. Likewise, if you don't update regularly they will get used to visiting another site for their fresh ideas.
Hiding Your Content Behind Endless Advertisements - If you're a content site, give them content, but give them content that is not always laden with advertising. Advertising is a fine thing but do it well so that people can view the content unfettered. Stats show us that users hate popups and if your content is covered by a pop out ad that is restricting their view, they aren't going to click that ad for the most part, they are going to click the x that takes them out of your site and into someone else's.
Increasing blog traffic can be done in any number of ways, but getting people to read your text and come back to view it over again means that you have to have something there that the other blogs about your topic don't have. Keep your content fresh and your site welcoming.
The reader wants a reason to view your content through to the end. Give them that reason. Also don't forget to offer them an RSS button so they can sign up to view updates to your site.
Chances are if you do that, and you update regularly, the readers who find you will return to see what's up on your site every few days - this is free traffic to your blog. The increase in readers will happen naturally, as they offer your site to friends and people realize that you have a lot to offer them.
How To Find Free Blog Template Code
So long as you can use a search engine, it's fairly easy to find a free blog template code to make your blog look good.
Remember that each blog service is different, so a Wordpress template (or theme, as they prefer to call them) will take a lot of tweaking to make it work with a Blogger blog.
It's a lot easier to narrow down your search to only return links to blog templates that match your particular blogging platform.
Of course, if you're a wizard with HTML and have the spare time, you could design your own blog template code from scratch. But that's not something that many people are comfortable with doing.
Most blogs come with a few standard blog templates. A standard Wordpress installation will have a couple templates. Blogger has a larger number and you're asked to choose your template in the new blog creation wizard.
Trouble is, these blog templates are so common it will look as though you haven't put any effort into your blog if you use one of them.
Once you've typed in your search for your particular blog template, chances are that you'll get hundreds of possible sites that you could choose from.
But even if you've used the word "free" in your search, that doesn't mean that all (or even any!) of the templates you find on a particular site will actually be free for you to use. You see, sites know that you're likely to be looking for free stuff and will construct their pages in such a way as to fool the search engines into showing their pages. A phrase like "we don't offer free blog template code" will likely help the site to show up in a search for free templates.
So be careful - it's easy to get hooked on a particular blog design and then suddenly find that when you click the "download" button you're asked for money.
If the blog template code that you thought was free turns out to cost a few dollars, that may actually be a good thing. Since most fellow bloggers will be looking for true freebies, your blog could look more distinctive if you actually pay for a template. Ultimately, it's your choice.

Create a Free Ministry Website Tonight in 8 Easy Steps
Are you a Women's Ministry Leader who would like to have a website for your group, but don't have the money or programming skills to build one? This article will help you set up your own website in less than four hours, including your own website address, for under $10.
The beauty of this particular system is that it is free, accessible and manageable by even the most web-phobic person, and it can easily be integrated into any other website at a later date. (So, if your church eventually builds its own site, you could have this be a subsidiary of that site.)
Your ideal website will be easy to access via a unique URL (Unique Resource Locator - your own website address), easy to navigate (so users can quickly find what they need), and easy to maintain.
A BLOG fits this description perfectly. If you were to pay someone to create a site like the one I am going to describe below, you could easily spend $1500. But there are dozens of free services available to you right now.
A blog is easy to set up, as it allows you to choose from dozens of page designs, one of which will closely reflect your ministry's personality. In addition, your blog will provide the ability for you to post current and future information (while retaining a record of all past entries), in an easy-to-access format, as well to include details about particular ministries and staff profiles. All of this information iseasily searched using the built-in search tool, which is provided as part of the free hosting service.
Getting Started
By following these eight, easy steps, you can go from brand-new-idea to ready-to-post website, yet tonight.
1. Select Your Blog's Name. It is critical that both your blog title and your URL (Unique Reference Locator, or website address) match your group's name. For example, if your group is called "Women of the Word," you would search a site like DomainsBot for that name. However, you would subtract the spaces so it would read: womenoftheword. In a matter of seconds, you could know if the ".org" version of your name is available. If your name is not available, consider using an abbreviation or adding your city or church name at the beginning of the string. Select the easiest, yet most accurate, website address available to you.
2. Register your domain name. You could spend hours researching which domain registration company to use, or you could use the one I recommend: GoDaddy. They have GREAT customer service and the cost to register your website URL is under $10/year.
3. Open a blog account. Again, there are dozens of great options for free blog accounts, but I'll save you the time of doing all that research by recommending WordPress.
4. Create your blog. Your first task will be to choose from dozens of layout templates. Browse your options until you find one that "feels" about right for now. There is no need to select perfectly, because, thankfully, you are allowed to change templates anytime. Just pick one that you sort of like and keep working. You can always change it later.
5. Set up your categories. A category is like a file folder: It is an easy way for you to sort and search for particular types of information. Mercifully, blogs allow you to create categories and sub-categories. So, you might have a category called, "Calendar" with subcategories for each month of the year. Another category may be "About Us" including subcategories by the name of each ministry coordinator or volunteer. The sky is the limit, and, once again, the system is very forgiving: If you want to "re-categorize" a post later, or add a new category altogether, it is easy to do! Best of all, anytime you add a new blog post, you simply click check boxes to "put it into" as many categories as you wish, which makes searching for the information very easy for your users.
6. Point the URL to the blog. There is a wonderful feature called "URL forwarding" which causes an invisible redirection of any site to another. By using this opportunity, anyone who types in your URL will be taken, invisibly, to the main page of your WM blog. This is far superior to using the long and confusing address assigned to you by the blog hosting service. And, by purchasing your URL (in step 2 above) from GoDaddy or any other reputable source, you gained access to customer service support in case you need assistance while making this minor tweak to your account.
7. Enter the content currently on hand. You may be tempted to try to add all sorts of historical data and to have the blog site "perfect" before you go public, but I encourage you to add just one simple, welcome message, and then to build it from there.
There is a Biblical principal that applies here: Remember when God was speaking to Moses and said, "What's that you have in your hand?" Moses said, "It's just a staff."
Just now you have the ability to add a welcome message and to get this thing going. If you start with that, and add just one or two posts a week, your site will have 50-100 posts in less than a year. It adds up fast and is easy when you go with the flow and just use "what you have in your hand" at the time.
8. Update your email list. My own experience indicates that only a fraction of those interested in following your blog will actually "subscribe" to it via RSS feed. Most people do not have the internet savvy to understand, much less use, the subscription options. Assuming this, be sure to send out an email message to your entire group each time you add an important post to your site. Always use the blog post title as your "Subject" line and be sure to include the link to the website. Be careful not to send notices about every little tweak - just let them know about the bigger stuff.
A blog is truly an ideal "first" step for any group who wants a web presence but has little financial or web programming resources on hand: It can be free, customized, categorized, searched, and managed easily by even the most nontechnical user. It allows you to add text, photos and links, and provide a way for your guests to interact with you online via the comment boxes below each entry.
So, what are you waiting for? Go create your new Women's Ministry website tonight!
Best Way to Make Money Online - Build Your Website
Once you have chosen your niche and decided how to make money, you need to build your website. The website you build should be designed to suit the needs of your visitor, which means it should be simple, clean and easy to navigate.
If your aim is to make money selling information or products, you should avoid flash introductions. They may look beautiful, but they are creating a block between your visitors and the information they are looking for. And the more hoops someone has to jump through before reaching their goal, the less likely they are to stay.
When it comes to creating a website, there are several options open to you, depending on how much (or how little) money you have to spend and your level of expertise.
Don't worry - it is possible to create a website quickly with absolutely no experience.
Standard Website or Blog?
This is your first choice - do you want a blog which is short for web log and allows you to add posts on a regular basis, with the most recent showing up at the top or do you want a standard or "static" website, where the home page shows up first and the other pages are reached by navigating through the site menu or site map.
Free or Paid?
You can set up a free site or a free blog at many locations online. This is a good option if money is really tight, but there are disadvantages. The site doesn't belong to you and so there will be some restrictions.
You will have to read the terms and conditions on individual websites. For example, some sites will share AdSense. So although there are ads on your site you will only get 50% of the income generated. In some cases you will get none of the income at all. So check out the conditions before making your decision. Your site may be closed down, if you don't stick to the rules and of course, rules can be changed and this can have a detrimental effect on your business.
One of the easiest ways to get started is with a free blog at blogger. You can also search for "free websites" and this will give you a long list of alternative options. Alternatively, you can buy your own domain name and get a cheap hosting package for a few dollars a month. Learn how to create your own website in a few hours with this free e-book
